Our HealthDataMAD-R&I project protocol has been published in JMIR Research Protocols

This work reflects the joint effort of a very large and multidisciplinary team that has made the development of the HealthData@MAD-R&I® project possible. Article title: HealthData@MAD-R&I: Protocol for Design and Development of a Regional Health Data Infrastructure to Enable Secondary Use of Health Data in Research and Innovation (Various Authors, 2026). The article describes the design of the HealthData@MAD-R&I® project’s health data space, including its federated architecture, the work model based on 9 work packages, and validation through 4 real-world use cases. The project is led by the Directorate General for Research and Teaching, together with the Directorate General for Digital Health and the Foundation for Primary Care Bio-Health Research and Innovation (FIIBAP). This is a collaborative initiative that brings together healthcare institutions, research centers, and technology stakeholders, contributing to the development of the European health data ecosystem.

We continue to make progress toward a safer, more interoperable, and more useful use of health data.
